Driver Manager, First Group September 2013
Each Therapist has been individually recruited by us to ensure they are properly qualified and certified and that they partake in continuous professional development to keep their skills and knowledge cutting edge.
We painstakingly recruit a broad mix of Therapists to ensure we are able to match the right quality and specialism of the therapist with your employee’s and your needs.
Our Therapists work on a vocational rehabilitation model which aims to address the needs of employees with stress, anxiety and depression to remain in or return to work and perform meaningful, productive work.
Your employee’s Therapist will undertake a full employee assessment using the most appropriate and up to date psychological testing tools. The results of the assessment will be used to provide you with clear and evidenced recommendations and a full Treatment Plan detailing Treatment Goals and a Projected Return to Work date.
The report will practically support you with managing your employee’s return to full productivity, and use the Therapist’s extensive knowledge of Return to Work Planning and the legal requirements on ‘Reasonable Adjustment’.

How Will Your Employees Benefit?
Your employees will
Reduce lost time from work and so reduce the negative financial impact of absence.
Retain their workplace skills.
Have better self-esteem, and will for example minimise possible feelings of guilt for not coping – the chances of their health deteriorating are therefore diminished.
Recover faster as they remain mentally and physically conditioned to the regular working schedule and will not become socially excluded or emotionally isolated.
Why do our Therapists use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to treat employees with stress, depression or anxiety?
CBT, or Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, is a talking therapy that is goal-orientated with clear time-bound objectives.
It looks in depth at how your employee thinks about a situation and how this may be adversely affecting their behaviour and the way they act. Or alternatively your employee’s behaviour and actions may be negatively influencing how they think and feel and so impairing their performance.
Our Therapist and your employee will work together in changing your employee’s behaviours, or their thinking patterns, or both of these, in order to achieve an accelerated recovery from stress, depression and anxiety and to help them return to full workplace productivity.
CBT in the treatment of stress and depression has been statistically proven to change brain chemistry without medication, and is endorsed right across the board from within the NHS and throughout the private sector.
The short-run success rate with CBT is similar to that of drugs but the effects are more long-lasting – which is no doubt why the National Institute for Clinical Effectiveness (NICE) guidelines on depression say that ‘Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy should be offered, as it is of equal effectiveness to anti-depressants’.
Research shows that 5 years after CBT treatment, 60% of people are still free from stress, anxiety and depression – compared to just 10% of those people who received non-CBT therapy.

Getting your long-term sick employees back to work
We understand the challenges having your employees off long term sick can create for you. In a time when there is such pressure on our finances every member of staff is important with a role to play in your company, nobody is surplus to requirement.
Having your people away for long periods creates any number of operational challenges and if you have employees absent from work, you will know the costs are huge and a drain on your resources.
These costs can be attributed to many factors including:
- Wages paid to absent employees
- High-cost replacement workers (overtime pay for other employees and/or temporary workers)
- Administrative costs of managing absenteeism
- Personal injury claims
- Malingering / fraudulent claims
And there are other indirect costs too:
£ Poor quality of output resulting from overtime fatigue or understaffing.
£ Reduced productivity.
£ Excess manager time – dealing with discipline; finding suitable cover.
£ Safety issues created by inadequately trained employees filling in for others, rushing to catch up after arriving as a replacement, etc.
£ Poor morale among employees who have to “fill in” or do extra work to cover absent co-workers.
